Hopefully this comment will make sense to me when I start digging into 
the code ;)

My first impression is that the code is well-structured, but 
undocumented and without unit tests. If I came up with a few pages of 
docs as I went along understanding the source, would you mind proof 
reading it?

Excellent. I don't expect to commit anything before I'm sure of what I'm 
doing, though.

I've created a Subversion repository (available at 
www.mertner.com/svn/nprof/ using either http or https).

I was unable to import the CVS repository using cvs2svn though. I 
checked out the repository from SF to . (so the current folder contains 
CVSROOT and nprof subfolders) and ran:
$ cvs2svn -s /var/svn/nprof --existing-svnrepos --username=mm --dry-run .

But this gave me:
----- pass 1 -----
Examining all CVS ',v' files...

No RCS files found in your CVS Repository!
Are you absolutely certain you are pointing cvs2svn at a CVS repository?

If you've got any ideas as to what is wrong, let me know. I also setup a 
write account for you (login matt, password mwmi) in case you want to 
give it a try.


Who is, if any, currently in charge of the project? That is, who decides 
stuff like project roadmap, coding guidelines, web presence, etc.? 

Btw, you can check out the wiki/jira installations at 
http://www.mertner.com/confluence and /jira respectively. Although I 
haven't setup the NProf sites there yet it will give you a feel of the 
what you may be saying yes to ;-)  If you give me the go-ahead I'll 
create projects for NProf and add some content from the existing web site.
