OK, trying it some more, without messing with the settings box, the symptoms are reduced, but not gone entirely. It seems to happen under the following circumstances, but not consistently: - a test has failed, and then I fix the problem and build again without switching to the GUI in between. - I build, and switch (Alt-tab) to the GUI *while* NUnit is loading the test assembly. A new oddity, which I hadn't noticed before, so I don't know if it was there all along or new, is that sometimes when I switch over to the NUnit GUI to check on it, the top node of the tree has a green circle with a checkmark, but none of the tests show as having been run, i.e. they are all grey circles. I'm not using an NUnit project, but just loading my test dll directly. If there's any other information I can provide you, or tests I can run, let me know. This isn't really a big issue, though annoying at times, 'cause F5 runs the tests when they don't run automatically.
