Hi Nick

WRT the option, I don't know if it's new 'cos I've only ever downloaded
2.4.3 but I imagine it could be. I get the impression that the console app
probably had the option in it earlier than the graphical app (/noshadow I
think). Maybe you can check to see if your console app has it in. If not,
maybe it's time to upgrade, if it is in then give it a try (without
/noshadow) and see if it frees up the DLL for writing by VS.

The Gui option to turn of shadow copying is new with 2.4 and I already
regret it. Almost NOBODY should turn it off, but some do, leading to all
kinds of problems. Maybe it should be on an "Advanced" page. NoShadow is
designed to solve certain problems that almost nobody has - but it sounds
like it would solve a few common problems, so people fall into it.

Charlie
