Nope, no real advantage.  If I want pretty graphics, I don't mind using the full blown NUnit.

Ah so it's a runner that runs the tests in the assembly that calls Run()... there's a runner like
that in NUnitLite, but I had never thought of moving it to NUnit itself. Off the top of my head,
it sounds like an easy feature to add, particularly if we just used the existing console-runner
to hold do the running.

HTML output is also possible, but I've always kept that separate from the actual test execution.
Is there a particular advantage you see to integrating it?

What do other folks think? Would this be useful to you?

The AutoRunner in MbUnit essentially lets me run tests in a particular assembly from within that assembly.  Here's basically how I use it for my console-app-turned-test-suite:

        static void Main(string[] args)
        {
            using(var runner = new AutoRunner())
            {
                runner.Run();

                //runner.ReportToHtml();

                if (runner.Result.Counter.FailureCount > 0)
                {
                    Console.ReadLine();
                }
                else
                {
                    System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(500);
                }
            }
        }

The commented out "runner.ReportToHtml()" will give me a nice HTML report and open it in my browser.  I'm not entirely sure how useful that is, since the console output tells me everything I need to know, but that's what it does. :)

In addition to what you see there, it would be fantastic if you could specify some criteria for running tests in code.  If I have tests marked "slow", for instance, I may not want them to run every time I debug.

Did I cover it well enough?

HI Kurt,

Best bet would be to make this a feature request. Right now we're pretty focused on adding stuff that
folks are accustomed to from other frameworks, so there is a good chance it will get in.

If you do a request - or reply here, which is another way - please tell us what the feature is. We're
only human and a feature that says "Go look at Xxxx in the Acme product" and add a similar feature
is less likely to get action than one that carries its own specifications with it. :-)

So I recently switched back to NUnit from MbUnit, and I'm really missing the AutoRunner.  It's great fun to start a one off project as a Console app, then start writing tests and swap it to an AutoRunner thing.

Is there a way to simulate that in NUnit?  MbUnit will run NUnit tests, so I'm currently using that for the AutoRunner, but it's a bit lacking.
