Hey Everyone,

=20

I have come across problem using NUnit that is driving me batty and I'm
hoping someone here might be able to help me.

=20

We use NUnit on a continuous build server to run tests against a .Net
1.1 client application for a major project... recently I've been
upgrading the project to .Net 2.0 using Visual Studio 2008 and for the
most part it's gone smoothly - everything except the build and tests.

=20

We use a number of extra libraries in testing, such as EasyMock .Net and
NUnitForms. During the upgrade we had to ditch EasyMock (hasn't been
updated since 2004 and doesn't support anything > 1.1) and I've
recompiled NUnitForms once again to link to the correct NUnit dll. I
replaced EasyMock with NMock 2 and most everything works, the tests all
pass, everything is hunky dory...=20

=20

Except that if I run the test in the gui or the console, I get a series
of intermittent errors. Which one I get seems to depend on how I run
(the entire build process, just the unit tests, the unit tests minus
some of them etc). =20

=20

One of the main ones I get is this:=20

=20

Unhandled exceptions:

1)  : System.ApplicationException: Exception in pump thread --->

=20

=20

I get it both at the console and in the gui runner. The strange thing
is it's not actually an error in any of the tests - if I run it in the
gui all tests show green, and this exception is thrown as the last thing
that happens. The same thing happens in the console.

=20

A really odd behaviour is if I run a small subset of the tests, in this
case ones running tests on certain custom controls. If I run each
control fixture separately, they all pass green. If I run them all
together, they all pass green but throw this error after running. =20

=20

It's also intermittent. I thought it have gone away a while ago when I
ran the tests and they all worked fine, but the error came back on the
next pass.

=20

I originally upgraded to 2.4.8, but as I was getting this error (as well
as "Out of memory" occasionally, and sometimes just a straight crash
with no explanation), I upgraded again to 2.5 alpha 3. It hasn't made
any difference or change.

=20

I've got this week to evaluate how much effort it will take to migrate
this app to 2.0, it seems strange that the main thing holding us back
should be the test interface. I'd hate to have to shut off all the
tests completely to make this upgrade happen, but it's looking like that
might be the only option. I'm fervently hoping someone on this list has
come across this problem before.

Thanks for your time, all.
