Thank you very much for your advice - I shall try your suggestions.

If these don't work would the following be a way out of my problem?

1.  backup my present file onto a memory stick and insert this into a second computer running Ecco on those occasions when I want to check where I was or what I was doing on a date long ago (I have an appalling memory!).
2.  delete all appointments, to-dos, completed work and historic phonebook entries prior to, say, 2010 from the file on my main computer in the hope that this would solve the low memory condition?

I would be more than happy to pay if there is a solution which comes with a price.  I don't quite understand what one gets for the $20 membership fee as so much seems (very generously) to be free.

With thanks

You probably need to delete some entries.  Ecco's mem is limited and very low by today's standards so whatever you can clear (notes, page entries) should do it.

Subject: [eccopro] Low memory condition

When I try to enter a new appointment in the Calendar, a box appears saying 'Unable to complete command, low memory condition detected'.  I am, however, able to enter a new To Do or a new name in the Phonebook.

I run Ecco 4.01 (32 bit) and have Windows Vista.  I have been using Ecco in a low-key way since 1996 (mostly Calendar, Phonebook and ToDos.  I use the Calendar as a diary as well as for appointments so there is quite a bit of data there.

I see on Google that others suggest renaming .alm and .cfx files but I cannot find these.

Please advise.

Kind regards
Verity

I intend upgrading to Windows 7 or 8.1 soon - which is easiest for Ecco?
