I made a test change using regedit.

For Chrome.exe I tried 101 and 202 but they don't work.

IE8 doesn't work now either, but I made no changes.  I'm confused by the 
906, as 09 is not in the list. (see attached)

Also, thunderbird.exe exceeds the old 8/3 standard for the registry.  
What should I enter for Thunderbird.

If you can help me understand why these don't work, then I can move on 
to  all the other important programs that I use.
