Sorry Sam, you misunderstood! As
explained at the funding site only donors with amounts over $40.00
received credit for a free MyPhoneExplorer and a free EccoPro
Installer license.

With a total of only 150 donors you were not the only one who gave
a lot, beside other $500.00 donors I added $2000.00 to the final
bill. We exchanged mail before in this matter and again, I
sincerely appreciate your significant donation to the project. But
after we did the survey and after Mobisynapse asking for $40.000
bailed out, I openly explained the situation at the funding site -
when we connected with FJSoft in Austria to replace Mobisynapse -
that for the targeted amount we would only be able to develop a
solution for the majority of Android users who responded to the
2012 survey with hopes for additional iPhone funding in the
future. Beside less support as we had hoped for from some users of
our Yahoo Sister Group, who for personal reasons publicly voted
the project down, FJSoft tried also to connect to Slang for help
and got no response.

Don’t understand your $10-$40 donation. I
donated $500 for initial joint funding with the
understanding that you were dedicated to developing both
iPhone and Android capability I got nothing for my $500.
Android users donated $10 (?) and got their desired
syncing capability.

iPhone support? I would like to do it!
Sadly, we do not have enough EccoPro users
supporting the iPhone synchronization. The
vast majority of the EccoPro users surveyed
in the first half of 2012 wanted us to
concentrate on an Android solution.
Considering the smartphones world-wide in
use and a spread of 60% Android vs 40%
iPhone, we had only 150 users of about 2,500
Forum Members willing to support the Android
solution of MyPhoneExplorer. For example, a
$10-$40 donation goal at our CrowdFunding
site http://jointfunding.org would
hardly cover the lowest estimated costs of
$20,000 given to me by iPhone Developers.
According to them, the Apple iPhone Store
creates very high hurdles for developers and
considering the low interest the estimated
development costs of $20,000 are out of
reach.

Extension you might study the "eccoext.eco"

Financial support for Slang? I
would favor it and MobiSynapse (a Chinese
developer with seat in California) offered
it to Slang in 2012 for his help in
developing the Android synchronization code.
He seems very humbled or better even
embarrassed at their offer. He never
responded. He sees his work, his involvement
a work of love to the EccoPro community.

Thank you Slang for your continued support!

Bill, I agree that
such overviews would be very useful --
perhaps somewhere in the Ecco files
that are maintained with this mailing
list. I'd also love to see (in
layman's terms) an explanation of just
how EccoExt improves Ecco, what extra
goodies it provides and what problems
it solves. Maybe such an explanation
already exists -- if so, could someone
point me to it?

There are 2 Ecco mailing lists, Bill
(long story -- don't ask) and
Friedhelm looks after the other one
(copy of this email has been sent to
that list). Friedhelm's company has
developed MyPhoneExplorer (see http://eccopro.org/myphoneexplorer/ )
which syncs between Ecco and Android
smartphones. Unfortunately, it
doesn't extend to iPhones, but you may
be interested to look nevertheless.

I have been using Ecco, more or less

It is appreciated, depended upon,
but largely ignored.

While I would certainly be willing
to contribute to further Ecco
development, it would be helpful to
me (and perhaps others) if--from
time to time--one could hear
overviews, summaries of "where
we have been" and "where
we are going" with Ecco.

This may betray my ignorance, but
for the future, my greatest
interests are in

- (a) having a working
and synching Ecco on an iPhone.
(Yes, I know it's possible to VPN
back home, but the option requires
a microscope).

- (b) understanding the
limits of the file size.

Best,
