I have been a member of this group for a while now, though not very active.
I’ve been an admirer of ECCO from it’s very beginning, I still have the original five 3.5” floppy disks.
What I would like to know is this: How well does ECCO work at this point in time with WIN8.1 64bit?
From following this group, in a rather loose manner, it seems that there are a lot of necessary gyrations and manipulations to get ECCO to behave and operate properly, across the board. Being that I am a full-time college student now, I could certainly find significant use for the program, I do not want to spend a lot of time trying to make it do what it needs to. I do not need anything special, mind you, I just need it to work in the manner it always did, before the fall, so to speak!
One thing that I would absolutely require is it to print as necessary, w/o having to go extra innings to get it to do so, and that seems to be a regularly discussed difficulty. And maybe that is just my interpretation of what I’ve read via these e-mails.
Some (any) feedback from those more experienced advocates out there would be greatly appreciated.
… and has anyone fiddled with it in the new and soon to be released WIN10

Thanks for the detailed reply. Sound as though Parallels and Virtual Box (and probably VMWare) all do about the same thing. I really love VB. I am able to get three tmes the amount of work out of a single Windows box (before I choke it from running too many processes at once) as I could get from running just one OS - even if the OS is 64 bit. Yes I can still 'choke out' Win 7 64 bit using Firefox and getting carried away with too many open tabs but I've found 8GB can eek three XP's plus Win 7. That means four instances of Ecco, four of Firefox, etc., all on one box and except for getting confused as to which OS I'm on*, it is seamless. The fact that I can cut and paste between desktops and also use Ecco as a common data point in all desktops and then also have the 'P' drive open in all instances makes for a seamlessly transparent 'power user' system. Now I want to add a Mac user to the network and he will need Ecco + EE.so it is time to ask questions :)

* NOTE: If anyone is interested in learning more about setting up this type of system, I'd be glad to continue the discussion. Just let me know. For example - to make this work in a practical sense you need a couple versions XP OS add-on software which changes the look and feel of XP (bigger visual changes than what you can do just using desktop controls) such that if you add a custom desktop graphic plus make the 'look and feel' chagnes to the XP OS using this SW, switching between instances is no longer confusing b/c you have lots of visual cues to keep things straight.
