What IS known is that Micro$oft doesn't care (because it doesn't help
it's bottom line).

On the other hand, Linus Thorwald HAS stated publicly his intention to
assure the the GNU/Linux kernel remains compatible with older Windows
applications (like EccoPro) under Wine (which is far more stable and
faster than Windows, anyway).

That is how *I* use Ecco. (And have no idea why so many others prefer to
suffer under MicroSoft's uncaring and incompetent thumb - and lust for
profits).

I use Ecco without a problem on Debian derivatives, Fedora, openSUSE and
even Gentoo, under Wine. (Arch and Slackware can be a little more
difficult).
