It's hard to say what it going on there.  But it may be helpful to you or others to understand that there are limitations on how many items can be displayed in notepads overall at one time.  If you have too many items displayed, it can create a memory overflow.

One way to optimize this is to have a filter on each notepad that when set, displays nothing.  Then, when you are not viewing that notepad, set that filter so that no items are displayed.  That will free up memory that can be used to view more items in other notepads.

Since you mentioned notepads and filters, I am guessing that this is one possibility for why it is "locking."

But it could be other things too.  Nonetheless, I hope this is helpful.
