You can't import directly into Ecco's calendar view, you have to have
the appointments as a folder in a notepad. I actually have an "Import"
folder with Appointments as one of the columns.If I make a mistake, I
can just select all imports and delete them and not mess with any other
appointments. Once I have a successful import, I remove those items from
the Importfolderso they are out of the way for the next import to happen.
In my earlier note, I mentioned manipulating the data. Outlook gives me
fields I don't want, so I open my csv in Excelto easily delete those
fields, then save. I use Word to *carefully* edit dates and such into
Ecco's format "mm/dd/yy ##:##a ##:##p" - this is all one field for Ecco,
so it has to be formatted right to import properly.
Fortunately Word is quite powerful, so it can be done, but you need to
think it through so it does it right. I'll probably write a macro for
this eventually, but for now I do it step by step so that I can be sure
I've done it the way I want.
In the past, I have exported a "test" appointment from ecco so that I
can see exactly how ecco wants the fields formatted.
I'm thinking I'll probably write up a tutorial on this sometime soon so
others can use it.
