Compact files problem

Running eccoext on pc whose operating system is Windows 7 Pro.
 
 
 When I have any eco file open I can click on File > Database >Compact. Let's pretend the dialog box says there are 6300 records compacted. I often do this when I open any eco file. Before I close the eco file I execute . The message says nothing to compact. 
 
 
 Now, if I close the eco file and open it again and execute File > Database >Compact it shows the number of records displayed when this command was executed earlier. It seems nothing compacts the eco file. 
 
 
 What is the solution for this?
