Yes, I would like a complete copy of
Yahoo messages of "both" Foren. When I saw the names Nick Gordon
and Neal Gantz and that those messages or message replies were
missing, I can only point to YSWT and his hostile editing and
collecting processes.

Remember, in 2007 Tom Hoots the original owner and creator of the
Yahoo Support Group "eccopro " and "Nick Gordon"
who followed Tom past the baton to me during the hostile attempt
by YSWT to takeover the original group claiming it was spam
infested. Without any consent from the group owners, YSWT sampled
all messages of the original group "eccopro " to share them with
the members of his new group "ecco_pro".

It might have been a bit to obvious to share with his new group
members messages of the original group owners and main moderators
of "eccopro " which included Nick
Gordon or messages of Neal Gantz who attempted to lure EccoPro
Group Members to his EccoPro Support Business, and after services
were rendered required group members to sign non-disclosure
agreements.

Cheers,

Friedhelm

Yes. Yahoo forum headlines show up on a search or a
scroll back through time but when clicked on, sometimes
message is blank.

the trouble of documenting a specific change. But can
you give a link to one of the files that actually
happened to? (or just name it and mention where in the
file section it resides). That's bizarre.

Yes it is bizarre and thanks for asking me to prove
myself. That is a prudent response :-} To preface my
answer - I noticed replies missing on-line last fall
when doing the 'memory stress tests' & toying with
the notion of combining all YSWT's files into one master
file. I found the missing answers in older versions of
YSWT compilations proving the answers once existed and
were erased after-the-fact. I only made a mental note
of this 'strangeness', I did not keep track of tampered
on-line pages. The thinking at the time was "I have the
answers in a better format inside Ecco anyway". Memory
says alot of the missing posts were from people named
Nick Gordon & Neal Gantz. These are names from
before my time here.

I've just spent a few minutes searching for erased
posts and (of course) didn't find much although this
link has been emptied ....

I brought this up in the context of asking if I should spend
time and energy making a 'super help file' comprised of all
past YSWT compilations plus AlbertS's work on Slang's EE
documentation. JS contributed a script which I think would
make this a 'doable' venture from a time & labor
standpoint. I've done proof-of-concept's and yes Ecco+EE
has the capacity to hold and allow manipulation of that
immnse amount of data. But with two BIG caveats, the second
of which also answers your third paragraph, r6.

1) Someone else (outside my abilities) will have to write a
script that acts as a 'guard rail' ('governor' or 'limiter')
so that a 50mb file of ASCII text inside Ecco+EE does not
choke Ecco at just the wrong moment, causing loss of all
Ecco work not just saved. In other words - Ecco is not
only 'Google fast' on Forum look-ups spanning 15 years
(''99-'14), but Ecco has a 64,000 line display limit with an
absolutely unforgiving ceiling. If a search or opening a
folder into a Notepad exceeds 64K Lines of Information -
which can happen with several times this much info at your
disposal &/or if you have more than one 'fat Notepad'
already open, Ecco freezes and you loose whatever you had
not saved in how ever many files that were open at the
time.

Concluding #1 - Someone with scripting skills would have to
'buy in' on this project. Simply put, I do not have the
'chops' to do the 'guard rail' scripting and using a
complied version of all the Forums seems too dangerous to
justify the effort & the possibility of loosing work at
just the wrong moment.

2) I agree r6 that the last 1.5 years of posts should and
must be included in any new compilation.

YSWT answered the topic this way back in late February when
I brought it up

When have availablel time will update archive to
include latest posts, etc.

needs about 18 mos. of updating....

Concluding #2 - Let's say I have X hours to contribute
to the Ecco community. And let's say I have two ways to
spend that time and I can choose one or the other but
not both. Should I (a) spend the time creating a
'super help file'. I would unless YSWT never again
offers to do the compile and does not do the update. If
that is the case, then my time would be better spent
doing a manual 'scrape' of the last 1.5 or so years.
This especially considering flipping between a couple
Forum archive files isn't that big of a deal and
considering Yahoo's likely upcoming changes may not bode
well for its Forum users.

Well now ... that's what I think at 6am on a Tuesday
sitting here in Milwaukee.

What do you think sitting where you are at this time? :-}
