need help to install Ecco Pro Ext 32bit

I've been struggling with getting Ecco Pro Ext 32-bit installed on a Windows XP computer. 
 

 It installed recently but then started showing the "Unable to Complete" message. Now it won't at all. 
 

 Furthermore, it seems that Ecco files lost notepads before it stopped working altogether. Is the data still in the file and can be unhidden? If not, what caused it to occur? I was under the impression that Ecco provided a default number of backup files, but this wasn't the case with this file. No backup was selected. If I can't retrieve the data, then I have lost considerable amounts of data. 
 

 I have Ecco Pro Ext on a Windows 10 computer but I am less comfortable using it and more comfortable with the Windows XP computer when it works.
