Problem with config file

I have a problem with Ecco Pro after I reinstalled it.

When I open it I get this error message:
     "The master file has been restored from a backup and is 
incompatible with this file.

When I close it I get:
      "Unable to read or write configuration file."
       The program in installed on C:\program files\ECCO

However the Data Files are on a passworded Kaspersky Vault to protect 
the names of people.  I have had no problems with it for years in the 
past.  I am using Windows 7 I have use ECCO from 1997. Currently am 
using plain eco32.exe not slangs wonderful Ecoest.exe. just for simplicity.

I have installed the program on both the C drive and on the "Drive" of 
the encrypted Vault with the same results.

Windows folder contains ecco.alm | ecco.cfx | ecco.fdb |

I am completely stumped!!!!
