In addition to normal hourly backups you should copy a disk that will be a clean install -- it mirrors the entire HDD -- so you can swap that one in for the one that somehow got damaged.  You can add any missing files from those hourly backups.  Your entire system should be composed of several identical builds, preferably 4-monitor boxes, to facilitate it.
