Hi all,
Forgot to mention that this process also works on a flash drive. Again copy the whole directory to the flash drive, add any data files, click the Ecco exe file and away you go. This makes Ecco fully portable and, potentially, more secure.

Subject: FW: [eccopro] Ecco not starting up on Windows 10

Hi all,
I've never had this problem with Ecco. I'm running the latest edition of Windows 10 and it works just fine.
However, I didn't install it by running an installation - instead I copied my Ecco directory off my old machine (which holds the fully installed and working version of Ecco) and loaded this onto my new machine. I then installed my Ecco data files in a separate folder. I've placed the Ecco icon on the desktop and then activated Ecco and pointed the application to the data files, and it works fine.
I use it as a data store, not for mail or anything else.
I hope this info helps.
GEOFF.

If you right click the task bar icon and run the trouble shooter it will set Ecco up in Windows 8 compatibility mode....but it has to do a sort of reinstall every time you open it.

Windows updates are killers!!!

When you right click on the Ecco icon and look at properties what does it say? And when you do the same on the new icon added to the task bar (which is very odd) what properties are listed there?

I’ve been an Ecco user for 20-odd years and have never had a technical problem until this past week. But now when I click the Ecco icon on my Windows 10 taskbar, another icon appears at the end of the taskbar – and when I click that icon, nothing happens. Ecco doesn’t open.

I have an EccoProX installation via CompuSol. This past Monday I tried everything Compusol suggested to get things working, including a reinstallation. No luck with anything. I do not have any antivirus program on my machine other than the standards Windows 10 security.

I suspect that some sort of update from Microsoft has thrown things off. Anyone else with recent difficulties along my line? Appreciate any advice folks could give. Thank you!
