Thanks to everybody for all your help on my problem. A semi-happy ending to my story.

The details: On my main desktop, I copied into my Compusol installation all the missing .dll files from an EccoTools installation I did on my notebook. The desktop Ecco, unfortunately, still didn't work. It just kept placing an Ecco icon at the end of the task bar, and clicking that icon produced nothing.

But the good news is that the EccoTools copy I installed on my notebook seems to be working fine. So I can access all my Ecco datafiles via that copy. That's years of work, and I'm now out of panic mode. I really appreciate the community's assistance.
