Greetings:

My “path” has a twist. Note the –n at the end of the string.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\ECCO\eccoext.exe" -n

I also get s second taskbar icon automatically when I open eccoext in windows 10. The second one is the “working” one that has this path:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\ECCO\ecco32.exe"

The program that is running is eccoext though. No question about that. Also there seems to be no difference in running the eccoext.exe with our without the suffix -n

I am just living with this minor inconvenience.

Paul

Just to push the point, hopefully you did see my email about what the target should be in properties. It is difficult to imagine that the properties target isn’t pointed incorrectly to cause it to create a new icon on the task bar instead of opening the program.

I may have missed this, but it you launch the exe file directly from the folder, such as from "C:\Program Files (x86)\ECCO\ecco32.exe” what happens?

Thanks to everybody for all your help on my problem. A semi-happy ending to my story.

The details: On my main desktop, I copied into my Compusol installation all the missing .dll files from an EccoTools installation I did on my notebook. The desktop Ecco, unfortunately, still didn't work. It just kept placing an Ecco icon at the end of the task bar, and clicking that icon produced nothing.

But the good news is that the EccoTools copy I installed on my notebook seems to be working fine. So I can access all my Ecco datafiles via that copy. That's years of work, and I'm now out of panic mode. I really appreciate the community's assistance.
