Friedhelm passed away recently, see recent posts for more details. Apparently something happened with the hosts of his sites and Friedhelm's widow has been unable to straighten the problem out as yet. I don't know if it will ever be resolved. 

 Just for the record, Friedhelm made significant contributions to keeping ecco alive, but he didn't take over development of ecco. Ecco is an orphaned piece of software, various individuals have contributed to keeping it going and useful all these years, but no one individual has taken it over.
