Ray, I am assuming that because Ecco created new cfx, fdb, and alm
files in the Windows directory that there are not any other copies of
these hiding out on your computer that Ecco would be looking at. I
don't think there could be.
Check what Don & Santiago suggested. If those ideas don't pan out, we
may need to wait for the big guns to weigh in.
Also you don't have replicas and master files involving the eco files
you are trying to open or close, right? If that gets messed up, you
might have to disconnect from the master.
Because you are able to open files and leave them open without getting
the error message, I think your issue might be with where Ecco is
trying to save backup files. You might turn off backups to see if that
makes a difference. It could be it is trying to save in a folder that
require administrative privileges.
I cannot remember which version of windows prevented me from saving
what I wanted in the c:\program files (386) without invoking my higher
power every time, or how I made it stop doing that. My work around was
to create an Ecco folder under My Documents and save backups and maybe
even run my eco files there.
Someone should create software to capture painful lessons
automatically. I solve these various problems and promptly forget the
solution as I move on to solving _other_ problems! --Chris
