Hi Richard,

 Thanks for helping out.
I tried using your method and archived data from Jan 1, 2015.

It released only 22k of space. So very little change really from
 a 18M file.

I was able to make a couple of text changes and save the file, so
there has been some progress. :)

Where exactly is this archived file located? It's not in the same
place as all my other Ecco files.

And what exactly would be in it?
How does Ecco know what data I wrote before and after Jan 1, 2015?
 I'm confused about that.

I think more arsenal will be needed to get my file in shape again.

To add more to the picture. My current main file has been pared down
considerably. In an effort to get it working I cut out more than half
of its data, copying it to a new file.
Unfortunately the file size did not change at all. :(
So its content now is not what it was months ago.

 Thanks,

    Rick

Hi,
Try archiving some of the data.

First - back up your ecco file.
Then open Ecco, select File => Database => Archive
Specify the date to archive data older than
That data will be saved to the archive file and removed from your
current ecco file.

Then compact the database.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Richard Conway
