I second that.  AutoIT3 is a superb general purpose program for automating or even creating your own apps.  It's a little tricky for those with no programming experience at all, but worth learning.

AutoHotKey is another freeware program in that category which in fact has been used to create some of the Ecco adjunct programs that are floating around out there.
