Thanks, Don -- I'm surprised yours was the only reply, as I thought someone would have known the answer or at least the question would have been asked before.
I've not created forms for many years, so I didn't really want to go down that road -- but thanks for the idea.
Looks like the limit is 100 (on my count), including the many columns that are generated by the standard PhoneBook items. Many of my non-standard columns are referred to only rarely, so I've archived them by saving my Ecco file under a new name and removing some of the rarely-needed columns from the new file. As soon as I removed some columns, I was able to add more.
