I'm glad I wasn't the only one who could find no way to download the StoryServer preview. Thanks for confirming. Maybe it is invitation only? Has anyone seen it? The timeline says it was first released on December 5, 2018.

As to the name StoryServer, I have not been fond of that name since I first heard it. I just don't see the connection between the name and the apparent functionality of the program. I don't get the context. But I'm fine with any name the developers choose if it does what I hope it will be able to do and becomes a viable successor to Ecco. I think your point regarding the fact that there is already a program with that name is a good one to bring to their attention though. Might not be a good idea to copy someone else's already existing name.

Pierre's InfoCube is, and has been since Netmanage abandoned Ecco in my opinion, the only program that is a arguably a reasonable alternative to Ecco. Although Pierre did add some Eccolike looks and features to IC along the way though, it was never intended to be an Ecco lookalike or to duplicate its functionality feature for feature the way StoryServer is purported to do. As memory serves me there has been only one attempt to do that since 1997 and unfortunately that project ended prematurely and tragically.

I would dearly love to see StoryServer succeeed. On paper, so far, it looks impressive. I'm cautiously optimistic, but there is still a long way to go before I will be convinced that the 22 year curse of the missing Ecco successor is finally broken.
