Re: Running ECCO Pro in Linux

Richard, have you checked out Airtable as an option?  It is Ecco w/ a web interface so it is end-user OS is agnostic.   Thing is, knowing the independence of Ecco users in general (me included) and your dis-love for MS in particular, tying yourself to a single cloud entity with monthly rent doesn't sound exactly like an Ecco replacement for many of us, if you know what I mean :-)

I have high hopes for StoryServer (SS).  My current Ecco+EE databases all work, but the main one has gotten buggy - again. I use multiple Ecco's within a 6 cpu LAN. As long as I'm the only one using Ecco, things are OK and I can work around soft bugs.  I add my wife into the equation - she is good w/ cpu's in general but not Ecco specifically - and immediately the questions and problems begin.  My next project is going to involve non-Ecco aficionados from far-off locations so, as much as I love it, Ecco has to be out.   

So I'm getting ready to use the heck out of either Airtable or StoryServer - and with hopes for SS.

To your situation - Short of finding a direct Linux replacement for Ecco and assuming SS launches with an Ecco+EE feature set and has been de-bugged ...  
according to the Docs, the developers are going to launch w/ Mac support under Crossover.

So there's no reason why SS won't work under Linux, right?
And good news (depending on how you view it) is all support is on-line.

Just a thought.
