Yes, NetManage, that is who I spoke with, probably around 2006-7. Interesti=
ng background to hear about, I wonder if part of the reason they needed $10=
0K was in part to resolve the dependency licensures if that was still an is=
sue.

ftware, but we didn=E2=80=99t want to try raising that kind of money.

A very long time ago (might have even been last millennium) we seemed to be=
getting close to convincing NetManage to open-source the code. I believe t=
here was actually a technical person working on bundling it for that purpos=
e. Then suddenly, that whole effort came to a screeching halt with what I r=
ecall was an issue related to dependencies on some embedded code or librari=
es that could not be re-licensed. I was somewhat on the fringe of that effo=
rt, but I recall that all communication ended very quickly. The open-sourc=
e conversations came shortly after they provided access to a download of th=
e distribution packages and some documents granting use. I would need to d=
ig into some very old email archives to piece together more concrete inform=
ation than that=E2=80=A6 I don=E2=80=99t believe that there was a lot of d=
iscussion on the old mailing list, mostly off-list communication. This all =
transpired long before this list got started.
