If I could be so bold to add to the discussion. I seem to recall
reading at one time that the major hangup in freeing ECCO Pro was a
Patent held by Borland of the basic spreadsheet operating core to the
program. I don't know if they refused a waiver or if no one tried. It
would be nice if they could finally let go of it one time. It is sad
that Netmanage chickened out when Microsoft came out with Outlook and
they stopped managing it. I discovered it buying a program at a Church
Sale called Arabesque which was the for runner of Ecco Pro.

least they were. If I recall correctly there was in fact
significant discussion about it in that forum. At least I
think I remember it being discussed there.</div>
