Thanks, I will have a look at message 3950.

If I use the output of the Open Source Timetable program directly I do not have a problem. I load the file into a listview and then use Parsevar to convert to a GDB file with columns. No probem because as I said the output is in the "correct" format with quotes.

If however I make a change to the Open Source output file in Excel(2007) for some or other reason and save with Excel as csv, Excel removes the quotes when saving and the Parsevar does not work. With earlier versions of Excel I did not have any problems. This is why I said it is an Excel issue.
