A few weeks ago a user reported the following at the VideoHelp support forum...

FWIW Avanti works on my Win8.1x64 system following the instructions and setting it to run in Win7 compatibility mode. Without the last it complains of inadequate disk access privileges.

If it can run without any issues under certain conditions, I think the OS is more to blame than g4c.
Perhaps the MSVC 2010 runtime on Win7 is a bit crappy? If so, why would they care. They rather
sell us Visual Studio 2013 than to fix it. :(

Well lets say, as g4c seems ok, I still keep on trying to find a "workaround" for this unwilling Win7 OS. :)
