 Thanks for your suggestion. I never used tag information in MP3/WMA because it is not
 very trustful (sometimes artist and title are reversed and sometimes completely missing) and
 therefore not suitable to build a playlist.
 I've struggled quite a while with the command descriptions you gave. Names must be in
 PC format and quoted when containing spaces but quotes are not allowed without spaces.
 As usual it takes some time to find out but now it all works OK.
 When MCI gives the error "cannot initialize" the file is checked for the ID3 bits and then
 the tag is removed and the file is saved in TEMP: and after a short WAIT the untagged
 file is loaded and played. Perfect... and the original MP3 is untouched....
 Probably I  also make the choice to overwrite the original.
