Yelp is another impressive site that seems to be mostly javascript.
Let's not forget netflix either.  Everything that impresses me and
that I actually find useful seems to be based on javascript.  On the
other hand, Java UIs were absolutely horrid for the first few years,
and still aren't so great, and yet Java conquered most of the world.
Clearly, the UI doesn't much matter, in the end.
