ok, I see that multiple IP addresses are handled by business class
routers, not consumer ones.

this post mentions replacing the firmware of a consumer router to
provide business routing functions. That has to be pretty interesting:

I can see cisco keeping features like multiple IP routing out of their
consumer routers, but why would D-Link also do that? Is D-Link owned
by a company that also sells business routers?
