Ok, I've often found it used instead of a wiki, you're right its good for
sharing access to documents. The limitation is that you don't see their
contents until you download them. In the cases I've seen a wiki would be far
more useful.

In one case the sharepoint for a project I was running was more complex in
its structure than the project itself. I'm beginning to see where sharepoint
would deliver value.
