RE: Windows 8: how quickly will it be adopted?

Win8 is optimized to run on the exact same class of machine that Win7 targeted (and in many areas, is faster than Win7). I don't think the barrier for Win8 will be "slow and buggy." I think the barrier will be "wow. that's different."

Personally, I like Win8 a great deal, but it is different.

I wonder if there's any good insight on how fast people will move to Windows 8 from Windows 7.  In my sector, cutting edge computers are key, and the latest OS is key if and only if it does stuff better than the previous.  I remember many companies skipped or activately avoided Vista because it was slow and buggy, but they jumped on Windows 7 relatively quickly.  Only laggards are still using XP or Vista and we don't care much because they also are laggard on updating our software.

What's the expectation for Win8?
