Re: Windows 8: how quickly will it be adopted?

Personal opinion is that most of my customer base is still moving to
windows 7 and I've not seen anyone even looking at windows 8.

I tried windows 8 when I got a new SSD for my laptop and found the
constant moving of the mouse to the corners to get the charms very
annoying (running stuff as admin was very frustrating). Gave it a week
and went back to windows 7.

I understand why Microsoft have done this, but it does feel like Vista
all over again. With Vista the main problem was the sudden lock down
of rights which caused regular users pain. Mind you the Scott Barnes
blog post below gives a sane sounding alternative timeline for why
things are the way they are.

I suspect windows 8 will be an Enterprise dud (although I do fancy the
Intel Surface) in part because as a developer why would I tie my code
to such a small user base, for windows desktop stuff I'm sticking with
WPF that runs on everything from XP upwards.
