RE: Windows 8: how quickly will it be adopted?

The part that baffles me - fifteen years of software have shown us that Power Users absolutely *love* to customize their user experience. Windows Wallpaper, WindowBlinds, WinAmp skins, Firefox, Chrome, etc, etc - give a geek an API to the UI and they're off to the races. 

So the Visual Studio team thought it would be a bright idea to make VS completely bland and uncustomizable? 

I truly worry about the culture at Microsoft - it really feels like they've lost sight of the community sometimes.

I tend to think of it as “slightly less worse looking than the beta”. If UserVoice and other forums are anything to go by the calls for further change (e.g. a complete reversion to the style of its predecessor) don’t seem to have abated either.
