Re: Windows 8: how quickly will it be adopted?

Long story short, I'm cautiously upbeat about Windows 8 being adopted, much
sooner than Windows 7 was, at least.  I'm thinking that what will make or
break Windows 8 is all the new (and intriguing) hardware that is coming out
for it.  At least some of that had better be decent.

I'm upbeat simply because I have been hearing that Windows 8 is terrible
for months, and am still hearing this, yet when I tried it for myself, I
found that it was great, and did not have trouble finding things.  Have you
ever tried to find things on an Apple box?  And as for the Power Off
button, just press the hardware Power button.  Apparently, this shuts it
down gracefully.  That's how consumers will do it anyway.

I'm amazed that people find Apple UIs intuitive, but don't find Windows 8
intuitive.  For me, it was the opposite.

I'm also worried about how good the JS development environment will be, and
am especially worried that many will choose XAML/C# instead, locking us
into Windows, hard.  I love JS, but I can't imagine the average enterprise
choosing it.  I suppose XAML beats Objective C though.  Everything is
relative.  Most of us are building web apps anyway.
