You may well be right about the mouse when it comes to work, but I use the
mouse on Windows 8 every day with no problems, though not at work.

What I'm saying is that Microsoft probably knows up front that the
corporate world is not going to immediately switch to Windows 8 and they
don't care, because right now they are focused almost entirely on their
weakness, namely consumer mobile, because it has been demonstrated that
consumers will shell out huge wads of cash for shiny hardware, even in a
recession, and will happily lock themselves hard and fast into your
eco-system and buy millions of fart apps.  It's easy money.  Meanwhile,
they know that their corporate base can and will wait, and Windows 7 is
just fine in the mean time.  It strikes me as the right strategy.

They took the harder and cooler route of merging the two worlds instead of
creating separate OSes.  And made it possible to use JS on the desktop.
 And took design in the exact opposite direction from Apple.  This is all
hugely innovative and disruptive.  If they succeed, they earned it.  If
they fail, then we all learn Java or Objective-C, or stay with web
development.  No biggie.
