Do you mean the outline of the button?  Gray check Flat on bar properties to disable that for whole bar.  Or you can also disable that for individual buttons with Disable/No3D checkbox 
 There are ways to do this through cl as well: setenable for individual items and addproperties for whole list.
 

 BTW:  sorry double use of this checkbox; from the help:
 Disable/No 3D: If command list is shown as a menu, disables this item. If shown as a bar, eliminates 3d effect when mouse cursor is over button.
