Glad you found the work around. 

 exec.showmethod uses an unofficial technique to work around the restrictions MS puts on when programs can set the foreground window (which is needed to get the keyboard focus right after eg hot keys).  So far, they have not broken that work around; I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they leave it alone.
