Your script doesn't work either. I use text scripts. I know about morecommandasscripts, but I've never used it. Win7x64, PPro 5.3.35.

No incompatibilities that I know of.
But the help or the plugin could have defects.
In this case, possibly there is an issue with the destroythis service.
All the help examples assume you are using scripts, I recommend at least exec morecommandsasscript, since double quotes in plain command line or action will cause issues. But OK in script files or in more commands section of exec morecommandsasscript.
I used
global e=event.create(2,10,"keys abc\re=e.destroy,\+
?=visiblewindow("*notepad*")=)
as more commands and it worked as expected.
I'll look into destroythis at some point to see if there is an issue with the service.
Note that \+ is for continuing lines in script files or more commands section of exec morecommandsasscript.
