I did the test myself and just changing powerpro.exe file not changing event.dll  :  
 with powerpro 5.3.35 s8 I get exactly what you describe.  --> event.this is always ex0   Which is strange as I've always got e1 e2 ...  
 With powerpro 5.3.35 r1  --> event.this is = matching global variable (e1 or e2 or ...)
