Make sure your configuration does not have any of the things listed in in the help section "Working with tray icons from other programs", like Menu Tray or the TrayIcon command or anything else listed there. 

 The tray plugin itself only works for windows 7.  Which I do not support anymore.  So I do not support the tray plugin either.
