I cannot help with how you show balloon tips; I have no idea if it is even possible with the version of the system libraries linked to the ppro exe.  Trying to be as independent of the ppro as you can by making your own window and lined libraries may help. 

 Yes, the ppro tray icons have uids.  But there is no way for you to get at that info.  If you are trying to show balloon tips for ppro icons, I don't think you will be able to do that.
 

 I am not sure what you are asking about with the cl question.  Is it an error in the help?  Or are you getting an error message when you try to use such a cl service.
