I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit beta on several machines. There are a
bit of new shell concepts that have been introduced.

Examples:

1) Notification Icon Area has been modified so that icons are movable by the
user. Also, all icons are hidden away in a pop up window by default. I have
not examined this in detail to see if it's just a cosmetic change
implemented within explorer or if the notification system/messages have been
modified in some way.

2) Jump Lists

3) Window Previews. This was present in Windows Vista also. However, they
have been upgraded with APIs that allow programs to add buttons to their
window preview. For example, the window preview for Windows Media Player
contains previous/pause/play/forward buttons.

These are just some of the new major concepts off of the top of my head that
have been integrated into explorer. Most of them have API support so apps
can also use them.

Has anybody tried Windows 7 yet?  I'm anxious to find out how much
work it would take to make shell reps work flawlessly on it.

(Yeah, I'm still alive.  Just buried in work and fatherhood. :D)
