Bah, cmd is pretty powerful.  I think it probably has at least 80% of 
the capabilities of bash (or ksh or csh or wtfbbqsh), just with an 
incredibly awkward syntax.  At one point I had a batch file that could 
trace and dump dependencies from C source files without invoking the 
compiler or any special binaries.  (It didn't understand ifdefs, of course.)
