I love xdesk. :)

Your desktop clicks are delayed because of enabling 
xDeskEnableDoubleClicks.  If you enable double clicks in jdesk, it 
actually does the exact same thing.

The rest of your settings worked fine for me (when I put $FileManager$ 
in quotes), including the on drop.
