The laptop I bought was not the one that I wanted. I had to have a Windows installation for school. They said that it was platform agnostic, but for my degree, I have to have Office 2007 classes. WTF? I couldn't find an XP machine with the raw power this one had, nor could I afford the Ubuntu ones from dell.
So I bought a clearance one from Best Buy, shrunk the Vista partition to 30GB and am running Ubuntu on the other 100 GB partition. Aside from the wireless using ndiswrapper, everything worked out of the box. Even the little media remote control and media buttons on the laptop to control volume, channels, next and so on. God I love Linux.
Sorry to go off on a tangent. You know you are a geek when you talk about Linux to friends like you are selling Amway.
